First Appointment
Welcome
We look forward to welcoming you to your first Osteopathy appointment or initial massage session at Koru Natural Therapies.
It is great to know what to expect before you arrive, as well as what to bring.
Prior to your consultation we send a confirmation via sms and or email. We may send you a google maps link and or information specific to the practitioner you have booked in with.
For all appointments, we kindly request you arrive 10 minutes early in order to fill in new patient forms and ensure we run on time.
All Osteopathy Appointments
Our initial consultations last from 45 – 60 minutes to allow an in-depth conversation regarding your current complaint. Your medical and family history will be obtained. A detailed assessment and explanation of your issue will take place prior to the creation of your treatment plan. We will need to obtain informed consent prior to treatment commencement. A written management plan may include at-home advice or exercises or alternatively, we may request investigations such as an x-ray or MRI. We may write a referral to another health care professional when appropriate. It is important you follow these recommendations.
You will most likely need to return for a follow-up appointment, your practitioner will instruct if and when you need to return.
Baby and Children’s Osteopathy Appointments
We warmly welcome families to appointments at Koru Natural Therapies. Experience has shown that young children’s appointments are usually best in the morning. Please bring along your “Green book” and any other medical reports that may be relevant to your child’s health and wellbeing.
In order to make the best use of our time together, we recommend children are well fed and bring a favourite toy to their appointment. Baby appointments tend to be smoother when the baby is full, clean and dry, and preferably sleepy. However we recognize that this isn’t always simple, just do your best as we are sure you always do!
Adult Osteopathy Appointments
Please bring along any relevant reports or investigations, such as previous imaging to your appointment. If you have a chronic disease management plan, work cover or TAC claim, please ensure you have your documentation with you. We can not guarantee reports or referrals from a referring practitioner will arrive before you do.
We recommend you wear loose, stretchy and comfortable clothing to your appointment. It may be necessary for you to remove some items of clothing for assessment purposes. Treatment can occur with your clothes on if that makes you more comfortable.
Massage
Your therapist will ask you some questions regarding your current presentation and if you have any medical conditions. This is important to ensure you receive the best care on the day. We recommend you wear loose and comfortable, easy to remove clothing. Your underwear will remain on at all times. Your personal preferences, areas of discomfort and any further questions will be discussed at the time of your consultation.
We offer 30 -120 minute appointment lengths, however we normally recommend at least 60 minutes for a first visit. We would kindly like to inform you that all invoice processing and payment occur on the day of your first Osteopathy and massage appointments.
