WORKSHOP: Stop Relying on Motivation and Willpower 1

Welcome to the first part of our 3 part Stop Relying on Motivation and Willpower Series

I was a lot like you, focused on working hard to balance all the different parts of my life and struggling to imagine that I could hold down a job, be a good and loving partner, spend adequate and valuable time with my family and friends all while getting enough exercise, eating well, seeing the sun, having enough energy and not getting sick.  But it all changed for me.

I’m going to share with you the number one thing you can do today to get your health on track.

Now, do you want to?

What’s your health goal?

  • Lose weight
  • Eat and move better with ease
  • Or Feel more confident and energise, of course, you do!
  • How about improve negative self-talk?
  • Or experience more love and connection in your life – yes absolutely!

Make sure you stay tuned.

Now, I’ll be honest I was stuck in the cycle that I observe so often in my patients.

  • Over eating and Under exercising
  • Over working and Under sleeping
  • Over committing and Under performing
  • Sitting too much and not getting outside enough

Do any of these sound familiar?

If I can do it, you can do it too

I knew my life could be different and as a health professional, I have the knowledge and skills to implement and knew it was possible to make small but powerful alterations to my routine in order to see substantial change.

I knew it was possible to lose the few extra kilo’s that had landed on my hips as well as to wake up refreshed and ready to go every morning.  It was possible to feel good in my body again, to find ease and confidence from within and for that to carry me through the day.

In fact, now I jump out of bed every morning and it is my favourite time of day and now I get to really enjoy it.

When getting home from work, I have the time and energy to spend time with my husband Mike and enjoy family time again.

On the weekend, there is more space and more freedom to enjoy the fun things in life that nurture my relationships and my soul.

And I know this is possible for you as well.  You can feel healthy and create a sense of balance and purpose in your life, all while achieving your goals.

If I can do it while running a business and travelling to lecture interstate and overseas, then I am confident that you can do it too.

Going beyond pain to make lasting change

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Dr Prue Eddie and I’m an Osteopath.  I’ve been in clinical practice for the past 13 years and primarily care for families to reduce pain and solve specific health concerns via hands on treatment, with practical home based advice.

Most people come in with a pain based complaint, once they are out of pain, they think they’re fixed and go on their merry way.  In many ways, this is a good result, but I have wanted to do better.  We want to make more resources available to you in order to make powerful healthy changes and support you to reach a sense of wellness and peace within.

Now what I’m about to share next is very important, but people tend to be a little resistant to.

My experience has shown me time and time again that the more you do this single step, the more likely you will achieve lasting change.

First things first, you need to get clear on what you want to improve in your life and even more importantly, why.  Understanding, deeply exploring why you want to improve your life is key to your success.

We can all have dreamy aspirations of how life could be different.

And I am here to tell you that it can be.

Not only can you achieve a weight, eat and move better with ease, experience more loving relationships and experience less stress and worry in your life.  You can reduce your chances of developing life long chronic illnesses, increase your life expectancy and live happier and healthier with all that extra time.

But this is why your why is important.

It does one massive thing.

This is key.

It reduces your reliance on motivation and wellpower

Which is what so many people just like you struggle with day in, day out.

When your purpose is crystal clear as to why this outcome is important to you, it eliminates the struggle and sets you on your journey towards success.

Many of the people I work with want to skip this step, they think it’s not that important and I’m here to tell you this is critical.

So stay with me.

Writing it down has been shown to dramatically increase your success

We need to write down why this is important and it has to have a deep and personal connection for you.

The first thing reason why is not usually the real why.

Do you want to lose weight, do you want to be a size x or do you want to increase your chances of conceiving a healthy baby?

Or if you have kids or grandkids, do you want to see them grow up and graduate from university?

It’s not enough to want to lose weight as it may reduce your risk of high blood pressure, or diabetes, or having a heart attack one day.  While this may be true, that doesn’t mean it will be enough all on its own.  If this truly made you jump out of bed in the morning and exercise, you would already be doing it.

Do you want to increase your energy levels and feel great getting out of bed in the morning, so you can emotionally connect with your partner at the end of the day when you are both home from work?

Why is that important to you?

Is it to avoid arguments about being late for dinner, or is it about having a loving, lasting, and meaningful relationship?

What does it mean to you and how does that resonate with your values and your purpose in life.

We have a Find Your Why document that you are welcome to download, I encourage you to use it.  Alternatively, you can find any scrap piece of paper and start jotting it down.  But once your WHY is clear, I would like you to write it on something a little more special and put it somewhere you will see it.  That way you can reflect on it again, review it and let it be a reminder as to your inner desires.

Some people will spend 5 minutes on this and look, if that’s all the time you have, then great.  But if you can, make some space, sit comfortably and quietly and really take a moment to pause and reflect.  This may just be the most important thing you do today, or even this week.

Don’t do it for me, do it for you

But if you are wanting or willing to share this with me, I would love to hear from you.

Over the next few days, we are going to share some more valuable insights that you can put into practice straight away, so look out for the next video.

I just wanted to let you know, at the end of the series, we will have a very special and unique opportunity to keep working together on making lasting change for good, so make sure you stay tuned.

Now in the next video, we dive deeper into the 5 key aspects of your life that you need in order to achieve balance and long-term wellness.

Looking forward to taking this journey with you.

Take care, bye for now.
